Purchase of a Permanent Site
In January 2005, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, Iqra School was able to move into an ideal new site.
Originally built in the mid- 1800's, the site has been used for various educational purposes since the early 1990's, most recently, part of Lawn Upton Middle School, up until the year 2002.
The site offers many excellent facilities that suit our requirements perfectly. These include spacious classrooms, ICT suite, gymnasium, facilities for prayer, library, canteen and dining area and administration offices.

The School is situated in beautiful grounds in a peaceful area of Oxford, which not only provides a conducive atmosphere for learning, but also provides ample space for safe recreational activities.
However, the future of Iqra School at this site is uncertain as we are, at present, on a short-term lease. We need to act now.
Iqra School is the only full-time Islamic School in Oxford and its survival is dependant on the purchase of this building. The site is for sale.
Negotiations are currently in process with the Oxford Diocese in an attempt to buy this site. By the Grace of Almighty God, we have secured the contract for the purchase of the school site and have paid a 10% deposit. However, we need to raise the remaining amount before 31st July 2008 in order to finalise the purchase.
The cost of the building currently stands at £2.2 million, which is a price that the Muslim Community in Oxford is unable to afford on its own.

Meeting the Running Costs of the School
Alhamdulillah, the Muslim community has been successful in setting up and establishing the first and only full time Islamic Girls Secondary School in the city of Oxford. The demand for Islamic education is constantly increasing. However, the costs of running this School are enormous.
The current Iqra School, based at the new site, is an Independent School and a registered charity. It does not receive any form of government funding and is therefore, in urgent need of financial assistance. It is for this reason we are looking for the generous contributions from people like yourselves who can donate in the way of Allah (swt).
Expenditure:
A break down of estimated expenditure for the efficient running of the school per year includes four main costs:
| 1) Salaries (teachers, administration staff, maintenance) | £170,000 |
| 2) Premises (rent, building maintenance, insurance, etc) | £70,000 |
| 3) Supplies and services (utilities etc.) | £ 45,000 |
| 4) Resources (teaching equipment, furniture, ICT equipment, etc.) | £40,000 |

Income:
Estimated income is generated from three main sources:
| 1) Fees (includes full paying and disadvantaged pupils) | £100,000 |
| 2) Commercial activities (sponsorship, evening classes, etc.) | £25,000 |
| 3) Charitable donations (Islamic loans, fundraising events, direct debits) | £20,000 |
| Total Income: | £145,000 |
Revenue generated from current sources is not sufficient to cover all the costs mentioned above. Iqra School is a community-based project and relies heavily on charitable donations and fund-raising events.
Without support from generous members of the Muslim community, the school may not succeed.
It is essential that reliable sponsorship be secured to ensure the continuation of this much needed school.
